Message No offense, and dont take it personal, but spare me the knee-jerk lip-service gratitude. Talk is cheap. Gratitude from people who have zero regard for the freedoms and liberties that the military is supposed to be upholding, couldn't be more hollow or worthless. When I see people speaking out and standing up for the rule of law and the founding principles of the country, wherever it may be challenged, THAT says more in gratitude than any words that the mouth of a member of a shameless society can utter.

Harsh, yes, but I am not a candycoater. I'm an aviator, not a diplomat.

Moving on...

We did not decide "homes" were sacred, we decided PROPERTY was sacred, that included the horse, the land, the home, anything which you give your earned money in exchange for ownership of is your property. Reducing the debate to only inside the 4 walls of your house is false.

To talk about invasion of privacy and suggest that forcing you to submit a breath sample in order to operate YOUR PROPERTY for whatever reason, is ludicrous. Would you feel the same way if once the system had been gamed by enough people that the government decided it would need a blood sample? There is already mention within that article about a system that can read blood samples thru the fingers while on the wheel. How could anything be more of an invasion of privacy than that which claims a right to your own body to force you to prove your innocence???

Our current DD system does not invade anyone's privacy or trample the bill of rights anymore than being locked up in a prison cell and forced to submit to prison rules for other criminal offenses does. You forfeit many rights when you commit a crime against your fellow man, or in the case of a DUI, you needlessly put people in grave risk, resulting in forfeiture of some rights regardling your property(car) that can be a further danger to society should you not learn your lesson.

People have to straighten people out by raising them right and shaming them when they have done wrong. Government cannot straighten out people, government can only COERCE people. You need look no further than Afghanistan to see the perfect example of this. If top-down governing worked, then Afghanistan would be a rainbow filled musical happyland of harmony. When people do not hold the same values that a government is trying to enforce on them, then the government can only coerce them to do so, and in the afghani case, this results in violence and lashing out against what they perceive as an attack on their values, which it is. When our society starts holding not-being-a-douchebag as a value instead of celebrating it, you will see things like drunkdriving decline along with many other social ills, until then there is no alternative but for the government to coerce us all and violate our civil rights, which the US Constitution strictly forbids, again returning to my point made in response to HaloZ that our country's survival depends on the overall sense of responsibility within the population.

No one can possibly argue that we aren't at an all time low in that department.
